| The American International School of Johannesburg is proud to once again host the 10th annual Johannesburg Model United Nations Conference (JOMUN X) in September 2012 at "The Forum" in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The theme for JOMUN X will be "Human Security and Peace Building in Africa". This theme has great relevance, not only to the countries of Africa, but also to many countries around the world. Human security should be viewed as being more than just an individual's personal security. Human security also includes the elements of economic, food, health, environmental, community and political security. These seven elements are important for human security.
Likewise peace building is not limited to establishing peace between countries. Peace building also includes establishing peace between governments, between organizations, between ethnic groups, between individuals and between governments and their citizens.
